Performing for the Douglas Music Society has been a memorable experience for me. I still vividly remember the warm atmosphere of the venue and the audience who showed incredible concentration which always allows the performer to play at his/her best.

Parbold was absolutely wonderful; truly! I honestly think it was the best small town recital organisation that I have ever experienced: the piano was superb, the hall was attractive and well-lit with good acoustics, it was sold-out with a very attentive audience and the volunteers were amazing.

It was an absolute pleasure working with the amazing team at Parbold Douglas Music. Their level of professionalism for the events we took part in was really impressive from an artist’s perspective. Everything was so well organised, which put us at ease straight away, and we were made to feel extremely welcome and appreciated. Their audience is extremely lucky to have such an enthusiastic and committed team in their area, who are obviously passionate about bringing high quality music to Parbold. Long may they continue!

It might seem unlikely, even more so when entering the modest car park, but Parbold in West Lancashire has, in its Village Hall, a jewel of a recital venue. It’s a treasure, a joy to play in, and its warm, loyal audience is as knowledgeable as it is appreciative. Such centres of cultural power can never be judged by their size, and this one is a powerhouse to which people now come from far and wide, both performers and audience alike.
